2026 Louisiana Book Festival date announced

Planning already underway for state’s signature literary event

BATON ROUGE, La. – Louisiana’s premier celebration of readers, writers, and the state’s rich literary heritage will return to downtown Baton Rouge on Saturday, October 31, 2026, as the 22nd Louisiana Book Festival starts planning to welcome tens of thousands of book lovers for a full day of author events, performances, and family-friendly activities from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“The Louisiana Book Festival is a highlight of the fall festival calendar in our state, and we’re excited to finally be able to share the date for our 2026 event,” said Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser. “Over the past 20 years, the festival has gained a nationwide reputation as one of the best anywhere, and attendees can certainly expect another great lineup of authors and activities again next year.”

The Louisiana Book Festival is held each year in downtown Baton Rouge at the State Library of Louisiana, the Capitol Park Museum, and the surrounding area. The event draws approximately 20,000 attendees from across Louisiana and the nation and is free and open to the public. Festival highlights include more than 200 authors and poets, engaging book talks and signings, insightful panel discussions, and a wide array of activities for children and teens.

Launched in 2002 to promote literacy and celebrate Louisiana’s vibrant literary culture, the festival has grown into one of the nation’s leading literary events. Planning for the festival is a year-round effort, ensuring a memorable, high-quality experience for all who attend.

“We had a very successful event this fall and we’re already working to put together new programming and another roster of world-class authors for next year,” said Robert Wilson, executive director of the Louisiana Center for the Book in the State Library of Louisiana, which puts on the festival. “No matter what your interest, there is always something for everyone at the Louisiana Book Festival, and we can’t wait to present the 2026 lineup and another fantastic day for attendees on October 31.”

Featured authors and panelists will be announced in the coming months on LouisianaBookFestival.org and the festival’s Facebook, Instagram, and X accounts. Sponsorship opportunities are also available to businesses and organizations interested in supporting Louisiana’s flagship book event.
