Creating Your Own Requests in LoanSHARK:
Step 1
Go to our catalog
Step 2
Click on the LoanSHARK link on the left side of the page
Step 3
Enter your username (first letter of your first name and your entire last name) and password (your library card number)
Step 4
Enter your search information and click on Search
Step 5
There will be several results. Choose the record that best fit what you are looking for and click on it.
Step 6
If the item is something our library owns, please check the shelves for it. The Reference staff will be happy to assist you if you need it. If we do not own it or if the item is not available, click on the Request This Item button.
Read over the form then click on the submit button. Note the list of libraries at the bottom of your screen. The system chooses which libraries the request will go to based on whether or not that item is available for loan at the time of your request. Your request is now in the system. Once the item is shipped to us, we will contact you so that you may come to the circulation desk to pick up the item. If the request is not filled, we will also contact you with that information.
Step 7
If what you are looking for is not in the results list, click on the Blank Request link and create your own request. You must put something in each field that is highlighted in red. For verification, please tell us where you discovered this title. For example, the online catalog, a database, Google, Amazon, and “saw it on TV” are some of the verifications that can be used. Something must be in this blank or you will not be able to submit the request. Remember to click the submit button.
Your request is now in the system. Once the item is shipped to us, we will contact you so that you may come to the circulation desk to pick up the item. If the request is not filled, we will also contact you with that information.
